In August 1996, I got a seven-week-old all-black female to help keep my older male orange cat, T.C. (The Cat), company while I was away at work, etc. I was trying to think of a pretty name for her, and came up with Madeline...Maddie for short. From a combination of Cybill Shepherd's character from "Moonlighting" and actress Madeline Kahn, even though my cat wasn't blonde or red-haired! She is now 15 years old and just as sassy as ever!
