In Greek, Andromeda literally means "to think of a man." This is in reference to the Greek mythological characterm Andromeda, who was a mortal woman of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia. Because of her mother's bragging and vanity, Andromeda was chained to a rock and was supposed to be sacrificed to a sea monster. She was rescued by Perseus, who later married her.
